Close on the heels of a sharp increase in petrol prices, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) rates were hiked by a steep Rs2 per kg on Friday, mainly on account of a fall in the rupee value against the US dollar, pushing up the cost of inputs.
Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the sole supplier of CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in the national capital region, said CNG will cost Rs32 per kg in Delhi from midnight tonight, as against Rs30/kg at present.

The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group's financial services arm Reliance Capital on Friday said it has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for its proposed 26% stake sale in Reliance Life Insurance to Japan's Nippon Life.
The company had signed a definitive agreement to sell a 26% stake in Reliance Life Insurance to Nippon Life Insurance for Rs 3,062 crore earlier this year. The deal was subject to regulatory approvals.

Reebok International Ltd. has agreed to resolve charges that the company trickily advertised“toning shoes,” claiming it would provide extra tone and strength to leg and buttock muscles.

The Delhi police is all set to file its second chargesheet in the cash-for-votes scam on Friday. While the first chargesheet had linked former Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh to the Rs 1 crore bribe money given to MPs based on circumstantial evidence, sources said that the police have not been able to find any conclusive evidence against the Rajya Sabha MP yet.

The CBI on Thursday told the Supreme Court that it is probing the alleged involvement of Anil Ambani in the 2G scam. A small aircraft with 18 people on board is feared to have crashed today in Indonesia's Sumatra island, officials said.
The Cassa 212, carrying 15 passengers and three crew, was flying from Medan city in North Sumatra to the nearby province of Aceh when it lost contact with air traffic control, Bambang Ervan said.
"It took off at 7:18 (0018GMT) and was supposed to land at 8:00,"the spokesman told media, adding that a search and rescue team was trying to find the aircraft.

US authorities have arrested a suspected follower of al Qaeda and charged him with plotting an attack on the Pentagon with an explosive laden remote controlled aircraft.

A bus carrying school students went off the road and fell into a ravine in Pakistan's Punjab province, killing at least 37 people and injuring over 70 others.
The bus was carrying students of Millat Public Grammar School of Faisalabad who were returning from an excursion to Kalar Kahar, about 200 km from Lahore. The accident occurred yesterday near Chakwal city.

Real estate developer Parsvnath today said it has received shareholders'approval to raise up to Rs 2,000 crore through the issue of securities to qualified institutional buyers.
In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the company said it has received approvals to raise up to Rs 2,000 crore in long-term funds through the issuance of securities.
The company will raise the amount"by way of Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) to Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB),"it added.

Bollywood's ever green star Dev Anand turned 88 today.
The actor-filmmaker celebrated his birthday by cutting a cake before the mediapersons.
"Unfortunately my phone is not working today and my son was getting lots of calls as my fans want to wish me,"he told media here.

Amid a diplomatic row over links between ISI and the Haqqani group, Pakistan's military will defy US and not take action against the militant network and foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar will continue with her Washington visit.
Officials in the Prime Minister's House hadinitially told the media that Khar would return immediately.
Foreign Office officials later clarified that Khar would return to Pakistan after delivering her speech at the UN General Assembly.
The premier on Sunday asked Khar to cut short her visit to the US and return to Pakistan to brief a meeting of the top political leadership that he intends to convene this week.
