Obama and Hillary are the most admired persons in U.S.A.
President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are the most admired man and woman in the US respectively, according to a latest poll.
Clinton pipped First Lady Michelle Obama to become the most admired woman of the US. George W Bush (with four percent) is a distant second to Obama (30 percent) as the most admired man, while former Alaska Governor and Republican Vice President nominee Sarah Palin with 15 percent of the votes closely follows Clinton (16 percent) as the most admired woman of the US, USA Today/ Gallup poll said.
Talk show host Oprah Winfrey (eight per cent) and first lady Michelle Obama (secen percent) finish third and fourth, with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (two percent), Queen Elizabeth II (two percent), former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (one percent), and poet Maya Angelou (one percent) - all regulars on the list - joined by newcomers German Chancellor Angela Merkel (one percent) and Elin Woods (one percent) in the top 10.Interestingly, Hillary Clinton has now been named Most Admired Woman 14 times since 1993, spanning her career as first lady, New York senator, and now secretary of state.
Obama, on the other hand, is the landslide winner among men for the second time, with 30 percent of Americans naming him as the Most Admired Man this year.
Obama won last year with 32 percent and both totals are among the highest Gallup has measured for a winner, with George W Bush's 39 percent in 2001 remaining the all-time high for Most Admired Man.
Bush with four percent of the votes finished second again this year, after winning the honor from 2001-2007, the poll said. The rest of the top 10 includes former South African President Nelson Mandela, radio and TV personality Glenn Beck, Pope Benedict XVI, the Rev Billy Graham, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Arizona Sen John McCain, former Presidents George H W Bush and Bill Clinton, and golfer Tiger Woods.
Ironically, Woods - who has some of the highest personal favorability ratings in Gallup polling history - did not finish in the top 10 until this year, following a personal scandal that caused those ratings to plummet, USA Today/ Gallup said.
