Indian Scientists Discover A New Frog Species

Frogs have played a rather significant role to further various types of research in biology, human anatomy and embryology around the world. Scientists observe frogs and their breeding patterns to pursue the line of their research. In this regard, the new species of frog found by an Indian scientist recently is a revolutionary development which is being noticed in research circles on all major continents.
The new species as well as a number of rediscovered species of frogs were found during a research study conducted by Professor S.D. Biju of the University of Delhi. His research was published recently in the latest issue of the International Journal of Zoological Taxonomy. Dr. Biju has to his credit, the discovery of 45 other new species as well which is quite commendable to say the least. Researchers from the Bombay Natural History Society, the Zoological Survey of India and Vrije University, Brussels, were also a part of the research expedition.
Unusual Mating Practice
The new species uses a rather unusual method of reproduction. The male calls the female who, if interested touches the forehead of the male with her hind limb. The male then takes the female in a loose embrace temporarily. The female then lays eggs on a dead leaf and the male for more details....
