Kalpana Saroj: Self-made Dalit Millionaire

The Indian caste system may have been banned in the 1950s, but caste discrimination is still prevalent in Indian social system. Inspite of modernization and many avenues in the field of education many Dalits, who occupy the lowest ranks in the social ladder, continues to be deplorable. But one cannot exceptions to this rule cannot be underlied.
Kalpana Saroj the Chairman of Kamani Tubes is a Dalit, who was once an abused child bride but later became the head a multi-million dollar company. In a country where most“Dalits” or “untouchables”, are facing illiteracy, poverty, doing dirty and hazardous jobs nobody else dares to take up Kalpana Saroj has come a long way. Even if you beat the odds and get an education for example, you’re still looked down on.
As a real life Slumdog Millionaire Kalpana people of the Dalit community and others have loads of applause for her. This audacious lady maintains humbleness.
“I was born a human being and I will die a human being,” she now says.“I’ve looked after my parents when they were old and ailing. I’ve helped my society and my caste. I think I’ll die having fulfilled my basic obligations as a human being and I’m happy for more details....
